Do you pray for patience? For yourself? For others?
I learned a long time ago not to pray for patience. I prayed for it once and had to wait two years for what I had asked God to bring me. He has a way of teaching us patience!
This past Monday I started a new job. I love it, but as with any new job, there is a lot to learn. Thankfully, the staff is very patient, especially the person I work closest with, and they all realize it will take some time to know all that I need.
This got me thinking how impatient we are not only with others but also with ourselves. While it is a given coworkers need to have patience with new staff, we might not realize we need patience with ourselves perhaps even more.
I am the type of person who wants to get it and get it yesterday! But I have to slow down and take my time so that I learn things correctly.
I need patience directed toward myself and know I’ll get there one of these days.
May be tomorrow, next week, or next month, but…
I’ll get there!

So true! We are hardest on ourselves.
