There is one person at work who asks me almost every day am I doing okay. I’m sure they ask everyone they meet the same question. I, of course, say I’m am fine.
I often wonder what they’d say if I asked back, “Do you really want to know” or “How much time have you got?”
There is a song by Matthew West called Truth Be Told. It claims we are all telling lies when we say we are fine, and I agree. We are all broken.
But we do we really want to hear about other people’s brokenness? We have two ears and only one mouth, so shouldn’t we listen twice as much as we talk?
This may be such a simple concept, but I believe we Christians are sometimes the worst at not only being ready and willing to listen to others but also admitting our own struggles and brokenness.
We aren’t fine and never will be. It is only by God’s grace that I am doing fine. For when I am weak, He is strong!
How are you?
Liar!
