The Right Words

Last September when I left school for a new job, it was difficult in many ways. Most people were supportive and some others were verbally and emotionally not.

I don’t remember anyone saying anything that made it better. But maybe that’s because we tend to focus on the bad more than the good.

I have a friend going through the same thing. Changing jobs or quitting one is hard. So, I’ve been thinking about what to say to her. What would I have wanted to hear back in September from my friends?

You are making the right choice? You can do this? It’s going to be okay? God is with you in your choice? It will be better for you and your family?

Which one is the right thing to say?

I don’t know. I’m not sure words help at all deep down inside the person who is hurting through a change.

All we can do is be there. Be there physically, emotionally but especially spiritually.

Sometimes, there are no right words.
