Show Me

August 7, 2021 by Laurel Burton Leave a Comment

Missouri is nicknamed “The Show Me State.” In reading why it was given that nickname, I discovered it was believed Missourians were a stubborn people and needed to be shown for proof of some things.

Whether true or not, I get it. I can be stubborn sometimes and need to be shown…

Like Moses in Exodus 33, when he spoke with God. Moses went boldly before God and asked God to do many things. One in particular that I’m not sure I would have had the courage to ask.

Exodus 33:18 says, Then Moses said, “Now show me Your glory.”

Wow! Seems more like a command than a request. Would we have had the courage to ask that of our Creator? Probably not. What a relationship God had with Moses! Earlier in verse 11 it says, The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend.  How many of us can say that?!

Perhaps we should daily (even hourly or minute by minute) ask God to show us His glory.

Look for it. Call on it. We all need it…desperately!
