The devotional I am currently going through is about capturing every thought. It is taken from 2 Corinthians 10:5, which says, We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
The Message paraphrase says it this way, We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ.
I confess this is a struggle for me. Maybe it is for most people. How does anyone fit every loose thought, emotion, or impulse into a life shaped by Christ?!
Instead of letting my life be shaped by Christ, I often let the negative thoughts in my mind which sometimes affects my actions and attitude. I really need to work on this one!
The devo suggests countering each toxic thought with a Bible verse like Jesus did when He was tempted. With each temptation from satan, Jesus used God’s word to resist. That is exactly what we need to do!
