Mercy

This time of year, the beginning of summer, brings a lot of storms. As the heat index rises, so does the chance of an unstable atmosphere.

Last night was a night full of storms. We and many others were without electricity for hours. Trees are down everywhere from tornadoes or strong winds.

I can’t help be reminded Who is there for us through the storms. David said in Psalm 57 verse 1:

Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till theĀ stormsĀ of destruction pass by.

We take refuge in God during the physical storms that bring rain, flooding, and destruction. But He is also our refuge and strength during the storms of life that bring sadness and tribulation. Through them all, we are covered in the shadow of His wings.

During storms I am also reminded of this song. We wish we could tell the clouds to behave, but we are only human. God is in control!

I am thankful for His sovereign power that is displayed every single day in the sunrise, in the storms, in my heartbeat and breath, and in the mercy He shows me every single day!
