Precious

When Chris and I married, we spent a week down in Seaside, FL. It was over 33 years ago, and that little town wasn’t what it is today! If you’ve never been, you should at least drive through it some time. Every colorful cottage and house has a name. The one we stayed in was named Precious.

Precious Cottage, Seaside, FL

We call many things precious from babies to animals to houses. But there’s one thing I think about a lot that isn’t precious to most people.

Death.

We don’t think of death as precious. But guess who does? God does. Psalm 116:15 says, “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.”

The closer I get to death, the more I think about it. The more I think about it, the less is scares me. Jesus did it first so we, his followers, do not have to be afraid. He gained the power over death so we are no longer slaves to it. (Hebrews 2:14-15)

Why does God think our deaths are precious? Because our suffering is over! We are finally home with Him!

Thank Him today for providing a precious way home through His Son!

  1. Thank you for this writing, Laurel. I had a friend from church that just passed away yesterday. This scripture in Psalms was just what I needed. She was a faithful Christian, a wife, a mother, a friend & she is PRECIOUS in the sight of the Lord.

    1. Becky, I am so glad it helped you. Sorry to hear about your friend. Praying for you and all her family and friends. Thank you for reading my blog!
