Solo

There’s a show on the History channel that we like to watch called Alone. People sign up to go out to a location and be totally alone. They have 10 items of their own choosing to take with them. Other than those 10 items, a first aid kit, and a satellite phone, there is nothing. They forage, set traps for food, try to build a shelter, and generally just survive….alone.

Our Bible class is studying the book of Luke. We are at the end of Jesus’ life. He is about to be crucified. Where are his disciples? Gone.

Jesus was alone.

I don’t think it was the first time He felt alone. Even in the crowds He taught, He probably felt alone. No one could understand what He was going through or would endure.

No one except His Father. Jesus made it a habit of getting away alone to pray.

Does Jesus know what we are going through? You betcha!

Perhaps that is why He said in Matthew 28 “behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

He knows what it feels like to go at this life solo.

He never wants us to feel alone!
