Lifespan

As we come up on Father’s Day, I am remembering not only my own Daddy but also my daughter’s father-in-law, Randy Mann. For those reading this post and don’t know, he died 2 1/2 weeks before their wedding.

It’s ironic. My Daddy and Randy were very similar in their senses of humor. They both loved to laugh! Perhaps they are telling each other jokes, because I picture Heaven as a place of laughter. I know my Daddy needed a few new ones. 😉

Death is part of our human existence, but God is in control.

Acts 17: 25 & 26 reminds us: He is not served by human hands, as if He needed anything. Rather, He Himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else From one man He made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands.

Don’t miss verse 26. God marked out our appointed time. He knows our lifespan. We live where we are supposed to and die when it is time.

Farther down verse 27 and 28 say: God did this so that they would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him and find Him, though He is not far from any one of us.  ‘For in Him we live and move and have our being.’

Perhaps God uses our lifespan to help others seek Him, reach out for Him, and find Him. We need to live for Him so that when we die, others will realize He is not far away.

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb,
    and naked I will depart.
The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away;
    may the name of the Lord be praised.” Job
