Crouching at the Door

We love to watch The Andy Griffith Show and can probably quote most of them! In one episode Barney is trying to win Thelma Lou back. Andy is inside her house talking with her while Barney is crouching outside the door listening. When Andy opens the door, Barney falls inside.

Isn’t that just like Satan and the sin in our lives? They are crouching at the door.

God told Cain in Genesis 4, “But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”

It seems there are two options at our doors. Sin is crouching there waiting for us to open so it can fall inside. But Jesus is standing there knocking.

If we aren’t doing what is right, sin will fall in. If we are ruling over the sin in our lives, Jesus can get in first because He’s standing at the door knocking.

We need to open our doors and let Him in!
