Comfort

When I was a little girl, I loved to wrap up in a blanket and lay on the back of the couch under the window air conditioner. I loved to be cold but in a blanket, and I loved to hear the white noise hum of the AC.

What brings you comfort? What do you find yourself doing that brings you peace and just makes you sigh? Maybe being with a person you love? Maybe drinking that cup of coffee? Maybe feeling the sand between your toes? Maybe just being still and knowing?

In 2 Corinthians Paul says God is our Comfort:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. Our hope for you is unshaken, for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort.

God is the God of all comfort. He comforts us in all our afflictions. Not just some!

He does this so we can be His hands and feet and comfort others who are in any affliction.

Feel God’s comfort today. And help someone else feel it too!
