Sifted

I like to bake, but I usually don’t have a lot of time. And the things I’d like to bake are things I shouldn’t eat anyway! Every Christmas Eve, I make homemade Cinnabon cinnamon rolls for us to have on Christmas morning. It has become a tradition that my family really likes. There are a lot of steps to making these homemade cinnamon rolls. One of them is sifting the flour.

When I sift that flour, I can’t help think of ‘being sifted.’ Jesus told Peter in Luke 22 that satan had asked to sift Peter. I wonder if or how many times satan as asked if he could sift me? I think it shows that God is in control. satan cannot do anything to me God does not allow. God knows how much I can take.

I also think about Job. satan was certainly allowed to sift Job. But Job withstood all that God allowed. Even when Job’s wife and friends did say the right things or perhaps support him like they should have, Job didn’t waver from trusting God.

I want to have that kind of faith. The kind that when, not if, but when I am being sifted, I will hold on to what I know deep, deep down inside me to be the only thing that matters. That one thing!

To keep my eyes on Jesus in all the eye of the sifting storms!
