Surrounded

I don’t know about you, but I don’t like crowds. They make me feel claustrophobic, and after a while it seems to take my breath away and I cannot breathe. I guess they make me feel like I’m having a panic attack.

When you hear the word surrounded, do you think of positive or negative things?

I guess it depends on the crowd. What are we doing? What is the purpose? Do we have anything in common? Where are we? Are we at Disney World waiting for a ride? Are we at a funeral?

We sing a song in worship sometimes called ‘Surround Us, Lord.’ What a difference it is to be surrounded by God rather than people.

What a difference the location makes on feeling surrounded or feeling claustrophobic! At Disney I have felt claustrophobic. At funerals I feel surrounded. At a concert I have felt claustrophobic. At worship I feel surrounded.

I pray I always feel surrounded with God. To feel that He is always around me. To feel His protection. To feel His love for me.
