Witnesses

I guess there are always people watching us whether we know it or not. When we are doing good things, and sometimes when we are doing things we aren’t supposed to be.

When you get to Heaven, who do you want to talk with? Jesus, of course! But are there others? People who have died you loved? People from the Bible you grew to love? Me too! I want to talk with Jesus most of all. I want to hug my dad. I want to talk with John and Paul and many others. Ancestors that I have researched but have never met.

All of these people who lived before us are our witnesses. According to the book of Hebrews in chapter 12 they are cheering us on in our race here on earth. They’ve lived it and know how hard it is, but they want us to win! It says they are our ‘great cloud of witnesses.’ What a thought! I imagine stadium stands full of all those Christians who have lived and died. If you’ve ever been to a ballgame or played any kind of sports, you know how incredible that can be to an athlete who hears the cheering.

But I think we forget who is our biggest witness and fan cheering us on. He is always watching, and I don’t mean for that to sound like He’s waiting for us to mess up. He wants us to succeed and live the best life we can so we can be with Him and those other witnesses who love us too!

I want to live a life that makes my witnesses proud. God and Jesus among them!
