Countershading

The other day I ran across the term countershading. It is defined as a method of camouflage in which an animal’s coloration is darker on the upper side and lighter on the underside of the body.

I couldn’t help but think that we do this in our lives sometimes. We ‘put on our best face’ so that people will not see the real us. We don’t want them to know we do not have it all together. We don’t want them to see how messed up we are.

But guess what…no one has it all together and not one of us ever will until the Lord comes back to get us. This is actually comforting when you sit and think about it. I don’t have it all together and never will, but I keep on trying. We need to let others see the real us because they may be struggling with the same things we are. We can help each other!

As a Christ-follower, I am thankful that God knows I will always be messed up. That is where His grace covers me. That doesn’t mean I don’t need to try my best in this life to help others and myself, but God has the rest for me. His grace is sufficient for even me!

Praise God for His grace and plans for my life. Plans to help and not harm me. (Jeremiah 29:11)
