A Woman’s Heart

I’ve been reading a book by Bill O’Reilly called The Last Days of Jesus.  In it he tells what life was like during those days.  He mentions the time Jesus was left behind after his family went to Jerusalem to pay their taxes.  Joseph and Mary found him in the temple amazing the scribes with his knowledge.  The gospel of Luke in the Bible says Mary treasured these things and pondered them in her heart.

I wonder how many moments Mary treasured in her heart.  I’m sure she had no idea really that one day she’d be watching her son hang from a cross during his crucifixion.  I think it would be a horribly terrible thing for a child to die before the parent.  There are so many memories parents treasure in our hearts, but I think women do this more as we are the more emotional creatures.  Maybe God made us more emotional for that very reason.    In the movie Titanic, the old lady says “A woman’s heart is a deep ocean of secrets.”  I think that is true.  Whether we have secrets about our children, others, ourselves, or just memories, we have a lot of treasures to ponder in our hearts.
