Rewind

I grew up in the 1970’s and 80’s. Looking back, it was a great time to be alive. I guess you’d say anytime is a great time to be alive!

We’ve been watching a TV show called The Goldbergs about a family in the 1980’s. Each episode is based on a true event that happened in the life of the producer. I laugh and sometimes cry as it seems like I’m reliving my high school days when I see the t-shirts they wear, the games they play, the products they have like VHS tapes, and of course the big hairstyles!

The show’s theme song is Rewind by the group I Fight Dragons. Only these lyrics are played at the beginning of each episode: I’m twisted up inside, but nonetheless I feel the need to stay. I don’t know the future, but the past keeps getting clearer every day.

We feel that way, don’t we? We feel all twisted up inside as we look back and remember. We don’t know the future, but we remember the past. It seems clearer now that we are older and know what occurred back then shaped us into who we are now.

I know they weren’t the best of times
I didn’t pass the test, or know my lines
But it wouldn’t change a thing
‘Cause all those days were mine

So I’ll rewind.
