Home for Christmas

It’s the time of year again when we listen to Christmas carols and remember years past.

One Christmas 22 years ago, I didn’t get to be home with family. It was one of the happiest, saddest Christmases I remember.

It was a happy and joyous occasion because I’d just had my first child. We even had friends bring us some of their Christmas dinner.

But it was sad because we lived in Ohio and couldn’t travel home. I remember crying as I talked to family members on the phone wishing them all a Merry Christmas.

When we moved back home to Tennessee in 2000, this song hit me very hard. When I hear it playing today, I remember.

I remember that happy, sad time. I remember the sad times since then like the first Christmas without my Daddy.

I also remember happy times like the last Christmas with my Daddy and the snow that fell that day to make it so beautiful.

So, whether you remember happy or sad times, don’t take for granted being home for Christmas with the ones you love and that love you.

Make good memories.

Celebrate being home!
