The Comforter

I honestly don’t know how some people do it. How do they survive without the Lord in their lives?

Yesterday was a good day but a hard day. It was my Daddy’s birthday. He would have been 91 years old. He’s been gone from this life for over 8 years now, but as I said in my Facebook post yesterday, there isn’t a day that goes by I don’t think about him, see something he would have liked, or think of something funny he might have said.

Yesterday was also hard because a friend of mine’s daddy died. Just like my Daddy’s death, she knew it was coming. But that doesn’t make it any easier. Thankfully, neither of our dads lingered or suffered for very long.

It’s harder to watch someone die than it is to let them die, especially if they are going home and you know it.

So, sometimes I see people out in the world and think how do they do it? How do they survive day after day without my Lord? How do they have the umph to get out of bed everyday in this world that often treats us so unkind?

Maybe satan has them thinking they don’t need God because they’ve got it made without any problems. Perhaps they think they are ‘a good person’ and will be okay. Maybe they haven’t been told about the salvation of Jesus and the Comforter.

I like to think about the Comforter. I pray I can always recognize Him and feel Him.

Revelation 21 verses 3-5 from The Message translation says:

I heard a voice thunder from the Throne: “Look! Look! God has moved into the neighborhood, making his home with men and women! They’re his people, he’s their God. He’ll wipe every tear from their eyes. Death is gone for good—tears gone, crying gone, pain gone—all the first order of things gone.” The Enthroned continued, “Look! I’m making everything new. Write it all down—each word dependable and accurate.”

So, believe it! Know it! Most importantly, share it! Share the hope we have with those who don’t have Jesus!
