Slummin’ It

It’s hard to watch the daily news. It is all negative, even the weather. So many murders and people hurting. A lot of crime and murders reported happen in ‘the projects.’ Of course that isn’t what the news calls it, but it’s what I grew up hearing those certain areas of town called. It’s places where low income people live. When we see it televised not even the news reporter will be there because it’s not safe.

I thought about this last night when I was attending a Bible study group. One of the ladies is a missionary just returned to the USA. Another lady was comparing herself to the missionary. Her comment was in Heaven the missionary will have an extra large mansion while she herself will be slummin’ it.

I’ll be honest. I have thought the same thing in the past. Who am I that I deserve a huge mansion in Heaven? What have I done to deserve any place but the slums of Heaven?

In other words I’ll take whatever lowly place in Heaven God chooses to give me.

Jesus has gone back to Heaven to prepare our place. I wonder what that looks like? He was a carpenter here on earth, but will our room in the mansion be made of wood? When will He be done with it?

Some people will have the penthouse suite in the mansion.

I’ll be thankful to be slummin’ it in the servants quarters out back!
