Open Your Eyes!

I’ll be honest. I tend to be negative. I fight it all the time.

The other day in one of my devotional books by Priscilla Shirer, I was reminded of this. The story went that a man was on an African safari to see the ‘big five’ animals. On the last day they still had not seen rhinos, so he spent the whole day looking for them instead of seeing all the beauty around him. At the end of the day, he regretted that he’d spent his last day like that.

I don’t want to wake up one day at the end of my life having only been looking for what I didn’t have. I want to be content and enjoy the people and things around me that I do have. I want to see the blessings I do have instead of the things that are lacking. I want to focus on the positive things in a situation instead of the negative.

I need to open my eyes to what I have and learn to be content in all things like Paul said in Philippians 4 verse 11, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.
