Choices

In this life we have many choices. Every day we are choosing. Sometimes we don’t even know we are making a choice, but we are. Hopefully, we are making choices that will better our lives and the lives around us.

But sometimes we don’t. Sometimes we make choices that aren’t good for us and may not be good for those around us.

Sometimes we have to make hard choices. Choices that benefit us or those we love. They are still hard choices to make.

So how do we make them? How do we decide what is the right thing to do? Do we have to be selfish in some of those choices? I think so. Do we have to consider others’ feelings? Sometimes, if we can.

The number one thing to do when making choices is to pray. God knows the future. He can help. Another thing to do is to ask others for advice if appropriate. There are those who have been through what we are needing help with, and there are those who have wisdom in general. We can also take our time making decisions if we have that luxury. It is always a good idea to think things over from every angle.

I have made a lot of bad choices in my 50+ years. Some had worse consequences than others, but I have learned from them. That is all we can hope for. We will make mistakes because we made bad choices, but we have to learn a lesson from them and from others’ bad choices too.

Today, be conscience of the choices you make and the consequences you and others will have to face because of them.
