Majesty

In my devotionals and at worship this past week, the word majesty has popped up many times. So much so that I cannot help but think God wants me to say something about it in my blog today.

With all the rain and gloominess we’ve had these past few weeks, it’s amazing to sit here and look at the clouds and the blue sky! It brings to mind again-majesty.

Majesty is defined as impressive stateliness, dignity, and beauty; royal power. Think about that for a minute. In countries where they have a king or queen, they call them majesty. We might see a beautiful sight and call it majestic.

But I like when we read in the Bible about the Majesty that is in Heaven. Hebrews 1 verse 3 says, He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. The He mentioned, is of course, Jesus. It says after Jesus took care of our sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. Wow! What a picture that is! I cannot even fathom with my human mind what that might look like.

There are many other passages in the Bible that speak of the Majesty in Heaven especially in the book of the Psalms. I invite you to look them up and read them to see just how Majestic is our God!

What will it be like to bow before that Majesty one day? Like the song says, I can only imagine!

Today, take some time to ‘be still’ and think about the Majesty that loves you and wants to know you more and more.
