Feet

Those of you closest to me know I do not like feet. I don’t like even my own feet! I’m not sure why. Maybe I’ve seen so many nasty ones in the past.

But feet are a necessity, aren’t they? We need them to walk and get us places. We cannot wait for our babies to stand up and begin walking. Also, we constantly try to get our kids to ‘stand on their own feet’ in dealing with problems.

One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do was cut my daddy’s toenails before he died. I loved him so much! We do things that we don’t want to do when we love someone, don’t we?

Jesus had His feet washed by a prostitute who used her own tears and her own hair. I often wondered if I could have done that. Their feet back then were so nasty, I’m sure, as they walked everywhere in the dirt and dust. Just thinking about seeing those feet makes my tummy turn a bit.

Jesus also washed His disciples feet as a sign of servanthood. Could you have sat there and let Him wash your feet? I think I’d have been like Peter saying wash more of me then!

I’m thankful for feet.

After all, “if we were meant to stay in one place, we’d have roots instead of feet.”
